Rabia Karani, MD, MPH, is a board-certified retina surgeon at Ophthalmology Consultants. She earned her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, receiving the Harry C. Saltzstein Award in Medical Writing and an NIH TL1 Award that supported her Master of Public Health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
She completed ophthalmology residency at Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute, where she received the Annual Resident Research Award, then returned to Johns Hopkins for vitreoretinal surgery fellowship.
Dr. Karani previously served on faculty at the University of Texas Houston, treating complex retinal conditions and training residents and fellows. Her practice integrates advanced imaging, in-office procedures, and surgical care to preserve and restore vision. She speaks English, Spanish, and Urdu/Hindi and is active in national leading ophthalmology societies.
